If people dancing at a show ruins the show for you, stay home. You don’t belong there. I don’t go to see live music so I can sit through it. If I wanted to sit, I could do that at home. Show some respect for the performer, stand up, and be a part of the show like you are supposed to. You aren’t there to be served and catered to as if the performer were a waiter. A show is a communion between fan and performer, and everyone should be an active participant in that. If you don’t want to participate, stay home. And if you absolutely must attend, and people are actively trying to enjoy it, and not passively trying to be served like a bunch of entitled douchebags, don’t complain when people actually want to move when they are at a show. All this talk about common courtesy being a thing of the past is absolutely right if we are living in a time when people are COMPLAINING about DANCING at a show. Give me a break. Stop ruining it for the people that really love music, and stay home.

I forsee an altercation at a show/concert between a couple of bubba-dumbass good ol’boys and four bikers with their ladies in the near future. It doesn’t take much time for things to escalate with some folks when their feelings are impuned or their masculinity is challenged.

I find it amazing what people will pay to see paint dry. All this whoopla about standing up or sitting down. dear god! listen to yourselves squabbling about an idiot with a selfie stick. Everyone writing the protocol for attending a concert. OMG don’t freaking spend money or go to concert unless you have your big boy pants on.

If I paid for the ticket and I want to stand, I’m standing. Now, I’m 40-something years old, which means sometimes I want to sit. Am I mildly annoyed if the people in front of me stand, forcing me to stand as well? Sure. But I would never, in a million years, ask someone to sit down. If they are enjoying the show more by standing, that’s their right.

Do I wish that people wouldn’t record entire songs or entire concerts, saving videos that no one will ever watch again (and where there are much better versions already on YouTube)? Sure. But again, unless the venue or band has a no photos/videos policy, there’s nothing I can do about it.

Selfie sticks, on the other hand, can fuck right off. Venues are perfectly within their rights (and correct) to ban those things.

To ‘Musak’ you have a very good solution: create sitting only sections. Maybe also create a 62+ senior section?
But agree to disagree with your opinion that:
“I believe the standers are feeling the music more & are more in-tune with the show/artist, which leads to way more immersive show experience for them”
The above opinion is assumptive and biased as to what the sitting person feels. Sitting people can also strongly feel the music and artist. I have been going to concerts for 50 years. I feel the concerts just as much as you do and maybe even more. I know all the lyrics, feel every beat, meticulously read and watch videos about the artist & listen to all the songs nuances. I live and breathe music.
But I can’t stand for hours due to physical disabilities (spinal). It is not courteous for me to take up seats in disability section as those are mainly for people with wheelchairs or injured legs (venues usually have very limited disability seats).
All we are asking is for more courtesy, more kindness, more empathy for others (including less ableism and less agism), less judgement as to what music we feel and don’t feel. . We old rockers have stood all of our lives dancing to the music. We feel the music.

Concert goers no longer have common courtesy & only care about their viral TIkTok moment. Some Swifties have even commented just stay home if you don’t like they’re screaming like a dying animal so loud that you can’t hear the artist sing. Really? Why should I stay home for you to stand, block by view, scream like a banshee? When did concerts become all about you and not about the music? Such selfish behavior is also discriminatory toward us with physical disabilities that prevent us from standing for hours.

If you’re the only one standing then you’re being selfish and making an ass of yourself. Most older people can’t stand for long and they paid for their seat, if you’re blocking their view you are wrong. And even younger adults are often short and can’t see over or around people standing in front of them. Performance attendees need to consider the decorum of the audience to see what behavior is expected. But given that Caesars Palace has actually placed a sign outside the theater encouraging this type of behavior I expect it will continue to happen. I’m not very tall, makes me wonder about attending shows there, how can I enjoy it with people standing in front of me, especially with the high cost of tickets these days.
